Attitude

Practice being in charge of your own attitude on a daily basis.
-Angeles Arrien

Hello Me Club,
As we become more self aware on a daily basis we start to realize that we can choose peace, logic, understanding and solutions, or we can choose drama. Our attitude is the first step to THE NEXT STEP. Our attitudes are what either propel us forward or they keep us stuck. It could be as simple as waking up in the morning. If we choose a negative attitude, chances are the next step will also be a negative one, and we will watch our day progress into misery. If we choose a fearful attitude chances are the day will be surrounded by fear and stagnation. If we choose peace, logic, understanding and solutions then we are bound to have a day that propels us forward. I am not saying that there are not times we need to and deserve to cry and feel pain. Just remember that you are in charge of when you get out of that state. Sometimes joy is not immediately forthcoming. But peace can be. Peace is a resolution to make a resolution. Peace is a decision that “I am not done here, or stuck here… just visiting for a while till I move on.” Peace is sitting on your sailboat with no wind, knowing that the breeze to get you to your next step is just on the horizon.

Happy day, smooth sailing,
Shauna

Optimist…a change in perception

By · Comments (0)

December 2, 2009

No pessimist ever discovered the secrets of the stars, or sailed to an uncharted land, or opened a new heaven to the human spirit.”– Helen Keller
Truly a great statement.  Pessimism lives only through fear. And when we are in fear we cannot reach beyond our small thoughts to reach our wildest dreams.   We cannot break barriers to find the unknown.  A Course In Miracles says that a miracle is a change of perception.  So the best change of perception we can have is turning from a pessimistic thought to an optimistic thought.  You will feel your whole body’s energy change. You will feel the pit in your stomach disappear. You will feel your breath again. And you will find magic!  A yoga teacher I saw this week said “start with just turning the edges of your lips into a small smile”.   You will have started your change in perception. And the world can be yours!

Happy day and may you start your sail to uncharted land!

Holiday Giving Blog Post

It’s here.   Black Friday was yesterday and the malls and stores were jammed. I KNOW because I was there!  The holiday buying spree has arrived.  But this year can be different.  This can be the year that we try something different. This can be the year that we realize that the best thing we can give our friends and our family is our time!  I am so busy, as are my friends that our time together has to be scheduled weeks in advance. And we are lucky if we don’t have to cancel!   So what if instead of a gift that can be wrapped, we gave them a gift that can be shared.   You can even spend money on it, too!  Here are some of my favorite gifts…  I love to take my friends or family to the theater,  or to a Comedy club,  or to the zoo,  or to a concert, or to go play miniature golf.  You can get tickets to a great speaker and bring them there.  Or you can take them to dinner and watch the Holiday boat parade at a marina! Or you can promise them a day playing in the snow, or going ice skating, or a beach day.   We have all heard the phrase that time is money.  So maybe this year we can stop thinking of money and give the people we love our time.

Happy GIVING!

And smooth sailing!

Shauna
