31 Time to Dump Those Bad Habits

August 15, 2020 By Shauna

WHAT THIS EPISODES ABOUT…

Hello Everyone! I’m Shauna Hoffman.

Let’s start with a quick check of your self care this week. I end every episode telling you to take care of yourselves. Eat good food, drink lots of water, get lots of sleep. Well? Did you? I started to formulate today’s episode with the intention of talking about Mother’s and Daughters. OK, I promise that will be next week’s episode. Because if I were to let the universe guide me today, which I try to do everyday, it seems that talking about YOU and your self care is where I am being led! And today we are going to delve into the fabulous word- habits.

30 Your Wisdom Day, Ain’t It Fab!

August 8, 2020 By Shauna

WHAT THIS EPISODES ABOUT…

Hello to all my fabulous listeners. I’m Shauna Hoffman

Happy Birthday to all of the Leos out there! I’m one of them. Since my birthday is this week I thought I would have some fun talking about what it means to get older, whether you are in your 20’s or 80’s! Really, how do we do this in today’s society of “hot celebrity new looks” and “Cosmo’s perfect ten hairstyles for women over 30?” I may be a therapist speaking to all of you about how to be your genuine selves, how to love yourself for who you are! But I’m reading the same magazines as you are! And I am always being challenged by my own ego.

I love the idea that as we get older we are supposed to gain more wisdom. But even as a 17-year old I realized that wisdom is not gained easily. Often it’s gained from lessons given to us from an older wiser human, I could listen to my grandfather share his wisdom with me any day. But most often it is gained from surviving experiences in our lives. Surviving them, making sense of them, learning any and all lessons we can from them, and embracing them.

Ready? Let’s get started…

26 Today Is Today

July 11, 2020 By Shauna

WHAT THIS EPISODES ABOUT…

Hello everyone! I’m Shauna Hoffman. I just wanted to thank you for giving me a couple of weeks off by listening to a few reprieve episodes. I’ve been trying to practice a little self-care for myself. You know the old saying physician heal thyself? I thought today we would delve into the idea that often times when we’re in the middle of a stressful point in our lives we feel like it’s never going to end and will go on forever. Whether it’s something as small as the fight with your best friend to a fight with your partner or your mother… to something as profound as losing someone that we love, we tend to get in this muck and mire and we feel like we’ll never get out of it. Talk about depression! I thought today what we would do is work through some really amazing tools to help us remember that this too shall pass.

19 Balance, Breath, Lockjaw

May 23, 2020 By Shauna

WHAT THIS EPISODES ABOUT…

Hi ladies! Today’s podcast came out of a moment of my own self awareness. It has been a tough 8 weeks as everyone is handling shelter at home during the Covid 19 virus. You may be listening to this a year from now, but regardless, I hope you hear the awareness I want to share with you today. As a therapist I have been seeing clients virtually and by phone to help people make it through this time of fear, uncertainty and massive change.

Now I am not one that usually experiences anxiety or depression. I am lucky in that regard. I have always thought that’s what gives me the opportunity to be there as much as I can when my clients need me. These last two weeks I thought was no different. I have been seeing clients virtually, sheltering at home. I have been hearing stories of anxiety and loss and lots of loneliness. Then the weirdest thing happened… and I mean weirdest! I got lockjaw! Lockjaw! Truly I had heard of it before but never known anyone to get it. And here I had it! Out of nowhere my jaw would just lock, frozen off to one side. The first time it happened I freaked. But with a little help from google and the mighty force of youtube videos, heat and ice it would just pop back. What the hell!!!!!!???

Then next thing I noticed, as I have became highly aware of my jaw, was that while I was editing my podcasts I was clenching my jaw! Virtual health with the doctor and the question asked “do you clench your jaw while you sleep?” “No, doc! Never have.” HA! Well that was a lie! That same day I woke up in the middle of the night and damned if I wasn’t clenching my jaw like a vice! So here I said to you that I usually never have anxiety…and here I am having some of the most bizarre symptoms that anxiety can give you! And leave it to me! I’m a therapist and need to talk! I’m a podcaster and need to record! I am fricking sheltered at home and my oh so big joy is eating delicious meals. And BAM! I can’t talk, I cant record and I cant eat! You know the brilliant Louise Hay would say there are always emotional or psychological issues associated with our ailments. I think my jaw was telling me to stop talking for a bit and check in with… myself! Its kind of a flaw of healers. You know the saying, “physician, heal thyself”?

So here I am podcast after podcast, years of helping others as a therapist and I had forgotten to check in with myself.

WHAT THIS EPISODES ABOUT…

Woo! What a week this has been. I am so excited that so many of you are sharing the podcast with your friends. The downloads are mounting up! I am so grateful for all of you and the PM’s I am getting. Ok, today I am honoring you! Today I am filling your heart and soul, mind and thoughts with everything positive about the woman you are. Actually today YOU are filling your heart and soul, mind and thoughts with amazing truths as to what a brilliant and powerful woman you are.

If you listened to last week’s podcast you know that we affirmed how physically beautiful we are. We took back all of the negative thoughts and bullying thoughts we say about our bodies. We reclaimed the truth that when we see ourselves in complete beauty with all of our imperfections then we are on the true path of self love.

Today, we will do the same about how brilliant and capable we are! We affirm our own individual Intelligence! We claim our talents! Our Creativity! Our passions! Our parenting skills! Our athleticism! Our singing ability! Our dancing rhythms! OUR beautiful magnificent GENUINE SELF.
